Let’s begin with basic definitions – A closed rhinoplasty is a rhinoplasty that involves incisions inside the nose. An open rhinoplasty is a rhinoplasty case that involves an incision in the collumella area, or the area of skin between the nostrils on both sides. One or the other approach is done for rhinoplasty depending on the examination and extent of the rhinoplasty.
